Playhouse Safety Tips To Keep Everyone Safer

Having a kids playhouse is both fun and exciting, but staying safe has to be a priority as well. Accidents can happen, but many can be prevented by taking your time in thinking things through during the building process.

One of the easy things to remember when it comes to any children’s playhouse is this…"kids will do whatever they can do".

What I mean by that is if they can climb to the top of the swing set, or on top of a tower, they will do it! If 8 kids can get on the rope climb at one time, they will. I think you get the idea.

The key with playhouse safety is to build a playhouse that is thought out with this in mind. Other factors such as being sure there are no sharp edges or screws sticking out, etc, are all easier things to double check as you go.

Playhouse Play Area

What about the surface of the play area, have you given it much thought on what you will use? You might want to consider using an 8-inch layer of small pea gravel. It works great! Of course, you can use mulch, sand, wood chips, shredded rubber tires and other materials if you wish.

The thing with mulch is that you will have to replace it every couple of years. Sand works well, but keep in mind that it gets in your shoes and can easily be tracked through the house.

Finally, be sure to build a wood border around the playhouse area to contain the materials. It not only keeps the sand, gravel or mulch in one place, but it also looks good.

These are only a few of the major playhouse safety tips to keep in mind when building any kids playhouse.
